We had a wonderful time after Christmas in a small house by the sea hanging out with my sister and her petite famille française. The weather was gorgeous and the kids had a ball catching up after not seeing each other for 12 months. And despite a broken down car we managed to make it back in time to celebrate the new year back home.

Incredibly I remind myself that just 12 months ago we were celebrating the New Year in Paris at the end of our 5 month campervan journey around Europe in a modern day Combi Van. We walked the kids through the freezing streets of Paris to see the fireworks at the Champs Élysées only to discover at 1 minute past midnight that they don’t actually have fireworks in Paris on New Years Eve. Not that we were complaining but it took some explaining to our cold and tired kids. I thought we were going to have a repeat performance last night as we stood in the rain at 9.20pm wondering why the fireworks that were due at 9.15 hadn’t yet gone off. We were just retreating to the shelter of a rotunda filled with drinking teenagers when bursts of colour filled the sky. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited (or maybe relieved) to see fireworks in my life.

To celebrate the coming of the New Year (and the fireworks!) we have a fantastic sale on right now. Many of the specials from last week are continuing and more reductions have been added. Have a poke around and see what bargains you can find.

Happy New Year!!!!
