When I was at the Australian Quilt Market a couple of weeks ago I fell head over heels in love with some Oliver & S dresses they had made up out of Franchelle Contreras’ South Hampton range. I ended up ordering both the patterns and the fabrics for the shop and couldn’t wait to sew my own version. I was good though – I had a Christmas swap and an Advent Calendar to finish by December 1, so I left the pattern in its packet and dreamt of starting it when my current projects were done.

Yesterday, with the swap sent and the calendar finished to the point of being able to put chocolates in the pockets (and that’s good enough for my kids!) I chose the fabric and excitedly pulled the pattern out of the packet. And that’s as far as I got. And really – I think that’s as far as I’m going to get this side of Christmas. I’ll keep dreaming of making this dress though – because I think it’s going to be a stunner!

If you’ve got time to sew a little girl in your life a dress then have a look at the South Hampton range. The prints coordinate so beautifully I imagine frills and tiers and panels that won’t hurt the eye in these delicate prints.

And if like me you haven’t got time to sew a dress then perhaps you’d like a small sample of all these pretty fabrics to put into your stash. I am selling fat quarter and half metre sets.

Happy sewing – and to those who can’t sew right now – happy dreaming too!
